Beach Day by Richasia Shine

This summer my friends Taylor, Mya & I went to Virginia beach for the first time together. We had never been anywhere near a beach until June, 7th 2014. I was very excited to share this experience with my best friends. We couldn’t even sleep we were so excited. The next morning we were on our way for a beach day. The car ride was very long and uncomfortable. All three of us were in the back of the van we couldn’t sleep much on the way there. The traffic there was very jammed we only moved every 3 minutes. I felt like I’ve been in the car forever. Taylor’s brother Tre started to complain he shouted “What’s taking so long I’m ready to get out of the car. We’ve been in here since 6:00 am.” Finally, after 30 minutes of backed up traffic, we made it to Oceanfront Beach. My friends and I parted ways from Taylor’s family.

Once we arrived to our destination we headed straight to the beach. I was very excited to finally go and enjoy the view. We walked on the beach for a while. There were many seagulls around us. The sand got dense every time the waves would go back. Many people were there having volleyball tournaments and playing beach football. I finally got to see suffers catch a big wave. After we got done on the beach we went onto the boardwalk, which was very busy. We found many things there such as the T-shirt shop, restaurants and the vans store.

That night we didn’t do much. We stayed in the hotel for most of the night watching Netflix and swimming. The pool water was very cold I didn’t stay in long. The water felt like a big ice cube. After the pool, Mya and I took a nap until Taylor came back from hanging out with a friend back home named Colin. We slept for a very long time. Taylor came back around 11:00 pm once she came in she said “You all should’ve came I had a good time, I also met some of his new friends.” Once Mya woke up we went to walk on the Beach for a while. We were the only people on our side of the beach but, we still had fun together.

The trip was fun, even though we only had a day to enjoy it, the trip was still fun. I got the chance to go on my first trip with friends, and we got to experience the beach together. I can’t wait to go back next summer with my best friend and others.
