I Never Wore A Shirt When I Was Little by Ally Hurley

When I was little, I never wore a shirt. It always made my mom mad because even in stores I would walk in and take my shirt off. Although people thought it was funny. On my birthday parties or any holiday that people would be around me, I would take my shirt off. My mom owns a picture of me on my birthday at my birthday party without a shirt. We use to have a lot of pictures but when we moved we had to leave them all.
I remember I would always want to be like an animal that’s why I never wore a shirt. I remember telling my mom, “I’m not your kid anymore, I’m now the child of a monkey.” I acted like a monkey and everyone would call me a monkey. So for the longest time I thought I was a monkey and I was okay with that. I was as hyper as a monkey and from what people said, I was as cute as a monkey.
I can remember my mom’s voice exactly every time she told me, “Allycat, put that shirt back on right now!” She was so consistent and strict in her voice every time she told me that. And she said it a lot.  Finally I remember one day, I went to go see my dad and I went to go take my shirt off and my dad yelled at me. He told me that was very unladylike and I need to stop taking my shirt off with people around. He told me that there were scary people in the world and I don’t need to interact with them and to not show attention to myself. After that day I understood what dad had told me. I stopped taking my shirt off around people but I would still take it my shirt off at home just to make my mom mad. I was a little devil.
When I took my shirt off all the time, it was one of my mom’s biggest pet peeves because she never wanted people to look at me in a bad manner. But I was just a kid and I didn’t know any better.
