My Favorite Sport by Ben Achino

I started playing football at the age of 7, I am now 14 and I still play it to this day. I used to play running back and linebacker but now I play offensive and defensive line. I play JV Football for Hidden Valley High and it is my favorite sport, I also play baseball but it is not my main sport. It is my second favorite sport though. I am going to play football all throughout high school and hopefully I can play be lucky enough to get a scholarship to play college football.
I remember my first season of football. My dad and mom used to come to all of my games, we played at Darrel shell at Penn Forest and Dwight Bogle Field at cave spring middle. I loved how you felt when you walked onto the field, how the parents would cheer and you could look up into the stands and see your parents smiling at you and you knew that they were happy with what you were doing, the feel when you hit someone, the feel of when you score a touchdown or when your team does, whenever I play football all my worries go away and whenever my parent’s always told me how good I did after the game and how proud they were of me. It made me feel great, playing football makes me feel great.
Whenever I played Pee-Wee football for Coach Cook, I used to play running back and it was the most fun season of football I’ve ever had. My Pee-Wee football team went to the championship. It was so fun, I had a blast that season, but every season that I’ve played I’ve had a lot of fun. Whenever I play football I have a lot of fun. Football takes a lot of time out of my life and it takes a lot of work during the season and in the off-season but in the end it is very worth it.
When you’re a student athlete, student come before the athlete part. We have a very good opportunity to play football for the school, but to do that you have to have very good behavior and have good grades. You cannot act bad or disrupt class, and you cannot fail any classes or have bad grades. If you do either of those things you will not be able to play football, and it’s a shame if that happens. Everyone deserves a chance to play football, and our school gives us that opportunity if we would like to. And It’s sad to think that some schools cannot afford to give their students a football program and you never know if one of those kids who didn’t get the chance to play football could have been the next NFL or College football stud.
Football can help anyone and everyone. You get stronger, faster, tougher, and mentally tougher. All of the coaches talk about how we have to be mentally tough and it’s true. When you’re tired you have to have the mental toughness to push through that and keep going a hundred and ten percent. They know how to make a great football player, so all you have to do is listen to them and do what they say, and give effort in everything you do.
