My Trip to Mexico by Neya Williams

As we were walking on the ship, I looked up and the beautiful chandelier lights were gleaming down on us.  I was in the 8th grade when we went on our Cruise to Cozumel, Mexico. While we were walking onto the giant boat I could feel the ship rocking like an elderly person in a rocking chair, and the salty ocean water was blowing its breath throughout the entire ship, so the smell was everywhere!  I remember walking down the long hallways to get to our tiny cabin. It was a box, the lower bed could only fit two people and on the ceiling there was a pull down twin bed. The cabin had a tiny bathroom that could literally fit only one person.  There was a very small toilet, sink, and a tiny shower. The closet was the size of a rat hole and the three of us couldn’t fit all of our clothes in it.  The majority of our clothes had to stay in our luggage.
All of the food on the ship was free and I was as happy as a child on Christmas morning, because we could eat as much as we wanted, as often as we wanted.  I ate pizza, sandwiches, and pastries throughout the day.  For lunch there was a buffet the size of America.  I looked at my mom and said, “I can’t wait to eat up all of this good food!”  There was an early and late dinner seating, we chose the late seating, so we would have more time to explore the ship during the day.  My family and I dressed in formal attire and ate as elegantly as a queen in a castle every evening.  We enjoyed unlimited lobster, stuffed chicken, prime rib, and filet mignon.
To get to Mexico it took forever!  We were at sea the first two days and we finally arrived in Mexico on the third day.  Those three days were the longest days of my life.  When we walked off the ship in Mexico we heard Mariachi Bands and a lot of people speaking Spanish. We toured the city and did some amazing things.  I was absolutely dying to swim with the dolphins, so I looked up at my mother and asked, “Isn’t there a dolphin expedition?  Do you think we could go?”  I am so lucky that my mom said, “Of course we can go!”  Swimming with the dolphins was the most breathtaking thing that I have ever experienced in my entire life.  They were as slick as black ice. They sang and danced and gave us kisses. One of the dolphins loved my nanny so much that instead of kissing her on her cheek he stuck his tongue down her throat. When I saw him do that, I completely died.  The dolphins were pop rocks popping in and out of the water. The staff let my nanny and I ride on their backs providing we held onto their dorsal fins very gently.  They swam so fast, we were lightning; away we went!
Visiting Mexico was amazing!  I will never forget this trip because I had the most memorable experiences in my life.  I feel like everyone in the world should have the opportunity to travel to a different country and experience different cultures because every country is different in many ways.
