Beach Trip by Timmy Shahinian

It all started off with the ride to Virginia Beach. I was with my friend Isaac and his dad. It was a Thursday afternoon and the sun was shining like a diamond. The anticipation made the five hour ride into a year. By the time we got there the sky was pitch black. We went into our hotel room and went to sleep excited for tomorrow.

I woke up in the morning to the sun shining over the horizon. The hotel was right on the beach. I went out onto the balcony and watched the sun rise from the horizon turning the sky orange. Afternoon rolls around and there was an airshow on the beach. The beach was so crowded it was like Walmart on Black Friday. After the airshow was over his Dad asks “Are you guys hungry”. We replied with a huge “yes”. We went to a restaurant called Fish Bones. After we ate, we went back to the beach and swam until night came.

It is Saturday and I forgot to put sunscreen on. I have a really bad sunburn now. The airshow was going on all weekend and the beach was crowded again. So we decided to do a little bit of shopping. We walked around for hours. Then we went and got lunch, it was a pizza restaurant and a slice was the size of the moon. After that it started getting really windy. When the sand hit your skin it felt like 1,000 bee stings. The lifeguard said “nobody is allowed in the water because there is a big storm off the coast”. Instead we just went on the pier and got ice cream and some souvenirs. We also put some pennies in a penny presser machine. We went back to the hotel, watched TV, and went to sleep.

It was the last day and we started it off by eating a quick breakfast so we could have more time to enjoy. We also rented bikes and rode on the boardwalk for about an hour. We went and saw the Poseidon statue. There wasn’t an airshow that day because the weather was windy. There was a jet that you could sit in and get your picture taken. We had gotten our picture taken and then finally we had left for the ride back home.

I learned that you shouldn’t take anything or anyone for granted. I think I remember this event because I haven’t done anything with a friend like that. You shouldn’t take your friends for granted. Enjoy the time you have with them while you can.
