Lying by Ky-Leigh Gentilini

I am fourteen years old and my pet peeve is when people lie about something someone saw them do or know for sure that they did it. For instance my cousin Cynthia said she didn’t poke me I definitely saw her finger. “I didn’t poke you, it must be your imagination.” Cynthia said.
“You know what?” I said.
“What?” Said Cynthia
“You’re a liar, you know it, and you lie like a dog!”  I was so heated over something so little. I walked out the door into the snow which was white as a marshmallow.  The wind was howling as if it were a wolf. The night air cooled me off like someone dumping ice cold water over my boiling head.
Lying really makes me angry. People lie all the time about everything. I also find this truly irritating. I’m pretty sure lying aggravates everyone but it especially aggravates me. Even though as a human I lie too, I just hate when people lie to me.
A typical example of this is when someone says they’re going to do something and you know they’re not going to do it. For example Cynthia said “I will never poke you again.” When I came back in.
“Yeah right you will never leave me alone until the day I die.” I said as Cynthia’s eyes glittered with mischief.
I believe that this pet peeve of mine began not too long ago. Maybe in the 1900s. Back then I believe this lying was meant to be a joke. Like someone would say they don’t like to eat something but they actually like the food. For instance my mom always says her food is “no good” when she actually means it is good. When she says that it’s “no good” she always has a smile as big as a rainbow.
People can make all this lying come to an end by just telling the truth. If people want to joke around that’s ok. Just make sure it sounds like and is a joke. There is always a way to tell if a person is lying or just joking. First of all sometimes can’t look the other in the eyes. Also by their facial expressions too.
